The Voice.....

Passion and Determination

At a very early age,
Maristella convinced her enthusiastic parents to buy a second-hand piano. Rapidly, her talent became evident and at the age of 13 she was accepted at the very selective Manhattan School of Music in New York in both classical voice and piano. It was not unusual though to find the beginnings of Maristella’s songwriting talent scribbled on the corner of her school notes.

Mariah Carey’s mother…the right place at the right time

How many girls dream of studying with Mariah Carey's mother?  Believe it or not, it was simply a last-minute cancellation of a voice student that made Maristella jump at the opportunity to be accepted into Patricia Carey's studio.  After intense and successful training, the master, ironically, influenced and tried to convince the student to pursue her Italian roots both as a singer and songwriter.  Did she do this to avoid any competition with her daughter?  Or was it a premonition since Maristella has written for international and native Italian star, Laura Pausini?

Heart and Hard work

Maristella has determination to achieve 150% in everything she touches. She loves using the colors of her voice, which travels comfortably through a wide range. Her songs have that power to move and seduce you.

Performing on radio and television, singing commercials, appearing in Broadway shows, opening for such headliners as comedian Pat Cooper, recording at top studios, Maristella is one of today’s most solicited singers.

Trilingual, she has also entertained audiences in many countries throughout the world. In Italy, the performance of one of Maristella’s originals at the esteemed San Remo Festival was highly-acclaimed.  She was also represented at the MIDEM (2003) in Cannes, France.

Promising Osmosis

It was several months ago that Maristella had the opportunity to collaborate with Frenchchocolate Productions and Danielle Simon, an innovative pop and R&B producer.  Excited about this new-found match, Maristella states ‘Not only is Frenchchocolate Productions talented and professional, but Danielle created awesome rock/pop tracks that are perfect for my voice, especially considering this project was a departure from both our respective sounds.’ "If I didn’t think (I knew you better)" will be released on Frenchchocolate Production’s upcoming compilation “The Constitution: Freedom of the Beat, Vol. 1.”

Words Against War

As the Iraq war began (2003), Maristella expressed her sentiment about the absurdity of boycotting French products with "George Bush (Tell me what to do), " a pop song about a woman who coyly asks our President if she should also boycott her French boyfriend.

Now comes “Read My Bush,” a play on the words ‘Read My Bouche’ or ‘Read My Lips.’  Quite obvious about the contents of this track, Maristella’s pop/dance song is over one year in the making.  'I have been strongly against the Iraq war since the very beginning.  Not only do I feel that we, the American people, are being guilt-ridden with patriotism but there’s no doubt now that there was no connection between this war and 9/11.  I actually can't believe that there are not more of us reacting to this blatant manipulation by our government.'  It will take you only 3 1/2 minutes of “Read My Bush” to convince you.

Moving Forward

Inspired by her idol Linda Ronstadt, Maristella thrives on versatility.  In 2008, she was featured in the media with interviews and airplay on Italian and American radio.  She performed at the Mercer County Italian American Festival, a huge event at which she has appeared annually.  In May 2008, Maristella performed at Newark, NJ's NJPAC as part of the 'Prelude Series' and was recently invited back for another successful performance.  She was also thrilled to discover that her latest song 'Day after Day' has become the Official Anthem for a new international campaign to quit smoking created and sponsored by Philippe Valy and the 'My Last Butt by Valy' Society. An award is due to be presented to President Barack Obama which will include a copy of the song.  To hear the demo, visit www.myspace.com/maristellamusic.
